Newborn Girl / Proud Parents

Matthew R. Callies

Newborn girl sleeps in mom’s arms.

Proud parents keep her safe from harm.

Little toddler takes her first steps.

Proud parents are glad they helped.

Six-year-old girl attends first grade.

Proud parents in happiness wade.

Sweet sixteen gets a new car.

Proud parents know she’ll go far.

Prom queen goes to the dance.

Proud parents have hope in their glance.

Graduating girl gets a diploma.

Proud parents are sad she’ll be leaving home.

College girl is attending Harvard.

Proud parents are her mother and father.

Hijacked girl was heading home.

Proud parents did not know.

Dead girl - in peace she lies.

Proud Parents just ask, “Why?”
