Feast of Thanks

Matthew R. Callies

Golden turkey, oven-kissed,
Crisp-skinned, savory, carved with care.
Mashed potatoes, soft as clouds,
Bathed in butter, warmth to share.

Cranberry sauce, ruby-bright,
Tart and sweet in every bite.
Stuffing rich with herbs and bread,
A cozy mix that fills the spread.

Steaming rolls, fresh from the heat,
Soft and pillowy, ready to meet
Gravy thick, poured slow and deep,
A hearty drizzle over heaps.

Green beans glisten, crisp and light,
Balanced by pies of pumpkin spice.
Apple’s sweetness, cinnamon’s flair,
A slice of heaven, beyond compare.

Family gathered, stories told,
Laughter echoing, new and old.
Grateful hearts and glasses raised,
In love, in thanks, in joy amazed.

A bounty shared with every friend,
Where warmth and flavors never end.
Around the table, hearts align,
In gratitude, our spirits shine.
