THE FALL OF JERICHO

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

Her beauty dazzles like the sun,
Her skin glows and grows,
Beauty deeply rooted in the skin,
Her smile a seductive trick.

Though her nkiruka has fallen,
Fallen like the walls of jericho,
But her azuka is soft like bread,
Many a man has visited her shrine.

She's a cheerful giver,
Who gives and takes,
A skillful hookpian,
Who hustle to survive.

Nail her not to the cross,
Maybe a victim of circumstances,
Things are hard, and she wants it hard,
Many are caught in the web.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The poem reflects on lady's indecent dressing in Nigeria to be specific. It unfolds the lifestyle of many ladies that walk the streets half-naked seeking for men to seduce, they do this by monetizing their body to some men who end up sleeping with them for money. May God help out society to embrace sanity over insanity. Amen.
