Once Upon a day in Merry Old England of Empire that was,
A buzz of excitement swept the land,
From North to South and all points in between,
For this was the day of the Crowning of Charles Number Three.
As important ‘Heads’ with impressive Bank Accounts from all Nations arrived to witness the event ,
A splendid time was Guaranteed for all,
With Money reimbursed if not happy with the product.
Oh! the people camped out all Night along the Pavement ,
For a sight of the King and Queen and Vice Versa at the same time.
And so, not long, and after which,
At 10.20 by Mickey’s Hand on Big Ben,
The happy couple set off from Buckingham Palace, (775 Rooms already) for the Abbey in a splendid Coach ,
Not passing ‘Go’ or Collecting £200.
The people cheered and cheered ,
With a side dish of Yells and Shouts,
You could cut the excitement with a knife and still have enough left over for Sandwiches and Sunday Lunch .
Not Long after they arrived at the Abbey ,
To be ‘Crowned’ by Mr Welby,
Who did Archbishop impersonations,
How the Congregation did sing,
There was not a dry seat in the House ,
A splendid Guarantee was timed at just over One-Hour,
An event watched and filmed for D.V.D. by Millions around the World, all Rights Reserved.
And so not long after ,they returned to the Palace , (Still 775 Rooms) in a Gold Coach ,
As once used by Queen Victoria, Who was never ‘Amused’, And had the face to prove it.
The People waved in many Accents ,
Who would no doubt Pronounce ‘Scones’ or ‘Tomato ‘ differently,
And cheered yet again as they passed ,
For this time they were Officially King and Queen ,
Like on the Money and Netflix.
A Splendid time etc etc.
Later on , they appeared on the Balcony in order of Wealth,
With more cheers going up from the crowd ,
Only to descend again thanks to the Laws of Issac Newton.
What a day to remember,
Long May he Reign,
Followed by the occasional Sunshine ,
With Light Winds from the East.

- Comment from author about the poem: I’ve always like the Poems John Lennon used to write, -so - tried to do something in the same Style. Sure he would have done better.

Nicely done, Kevin and you did manage to capture that Lennon feel. Really enjoyed!
