Adieu

Leonardo Abreu

I'm leaving
the days I spent
trembling, measuring
what it was about you
that mattered most to me
have long gone
you were just another image,
a symbol
that people do have
a second chance
to be something good in the midst
of so many defeats
giving up on what moves you
who knows,
you just have to take one step at a time
lower your head
put your hands in your pockets
and you'll find what
you never even thought you'd find
