What rights?
What takes human rights away?
Religion is the one thing I will say.
Looking into Afghanistan’s recent fall,
women can’t talk to each other at all,
nor can they be seen by another’s eyes.
A part of humanity controlled by lies.
The reason they can’t look or speak,
the men forcing them to be weak.
Men can’t control their own thoughts,
when looking at a female's body spots.
Covering the women head to toe,
not allowing any flesh to show,
keeps the men from acting out.
Suppression is what religions about.
Must I remind you of a womans right,
religion, telling you to give birth despite.
Politicians preaching, rights they suppress,
woman everywhere being treated as less.
What takes humans right to rights away?
Religion still does this every day.

A powerful message. Our beliefs become wrong when we wish to enforce them upon others.

Powerful message
Oppressive religious beliefs are among the justifications used to take rights away. Ultimately, it is people who are taking rights away…all around the world…using various justifications, not just religious beliefs. Atheistic beliefs have done the same in various parts of the world too. It is a sad and unfortunate fact, one your poem highlights, that people in power will use whatever to keep themselves right where they are. The rest of us play along and fall into the trap. 🪤 No belief should be forced on anyone. A very thought-provoking poem my friend. Well done. 🌹👏 Let’s hope we can see past the BS, religious or otherwise, but if history tells us anything…
