cement roots

NinjaGirl

the tree roots crawl

through the cement

forcing themselves

against all the odds

between many cracks

or through brick itself

these roots fight back

against the weight

placed by everyone

who all stomp them down

but the roots break free

not held down

by the weight of others' expectations

A wonderful metaphor and good advice to anyone that reads it. Very nicely done.

Indeed. To hell with other's expectations! What do they know anyway? Nature cannot be tamed nor can the free spirit. Absolutely love this poem and the extended use of the roots metaphor! Brilliant poem. Instant fave! 👏🌹
