Meara is so grateful for all Mellan’s help with her bags. She’s long forgotten his comment on people from flatlands! She notices the flowers he chose as the finishing touch; would you believe she picked the exact same bunch? The people of Springfield were so warm and kind! She bought just about all the maple candies she could find!!! Meara took special note of how no matter what this town comes together in tough times. So far she’s learned Vermonter’s are hard workers and that while some may struggle, they still try. Mellan is settling in downstairs. Much is on his mind tonight. But he’s learned to push through. In the end no one cares. Deep down he’s a good man with a heart of gold. There’s a bitterness inside of him now that wasn’t there years ago. But that’s when his woman was still by his side. She was his rock in difficult times. To leave only because his work was coming first? He cared for his patients; no choice he made was right; in the end this still hurts. Bri has offered him this cozy little cottage away from it all. He’s wondering if he should accept the call? Before he goes to sleep, Meara comes to mind. Yet he can’t understand why? She is so beautiful but a writer of romance? There’s no way he’d give a romantic heart a chance. Can Meara help Mellan knock down the many walls? It’s only a story after all..
