Three Words: For My Father

Kevin Hulme

Three Words were all I had to form,

‘I Love You’, a moments breath,

For I never did and the Chance now gone,

Took flight along with Death.

Soiled with tears for what could never be,

As the Heart was left unsaid,

Would Angels carry these words for me ,

And Sing then in my stead.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The age-old mistake of not telling someone you Love them , and then it’s to late . It’s not the ‘Gettysburg Address’ as Basil Fawlty would say.
