What we could've been

athena.walker

To the tale, I reveal to my youth,
You will be my once-upon-a-time

But the trench in my heart,
wanted you as my happily ever after.

Was looking for a lifetime,
tied to your soul.
But was ill-fated to only capture,
a moment of fortune with you.

As the tale goes on,
You will be my star-crossed lover
whom I'd a cup of poison from
as our love story merges into a
beautiful loveless tragedy.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is the poem I wrote about my first love. We could\\\'ve been everything we wanted but it didn\\\'t work out. It\\\'s one of my earliest poems when I had just started writing and to this date, I hold it dear to my heart.

It still hurts doesn’t it? Not all loves turn into happy ever afters they can become a poison chalice if you let them. Better to remember the good times

trench in my heart - an excellent description

Take the positives and discard the poison. I enjoyed reading you.
