A Psalm of Praise and Awe

Matthew R. Callies

O Lord, how mighty are Your ways!
Beyond all measure, beyond all thought.
The mountains bow, the rivers praise,
And all Creation, You have wrought.

With hands unseen, You shape the skies,
You breathe life into the dust,
You lift the humble, hear their cries—
In You alone we place our trust.

You were, You are, You yet shall be,
Eternal flame, unyielding light.
You split the seas, You part the clouds,
And shatter shadows with Your might.

Yet gentle, too, in morning’s breath,
A whisper soft, a dawning sun,
You cradle life, from birth to death,
Each day anew, each heart as one.

You know the stars by given name,
You call each child to Your embrace.
No heights can hide, no depths conceal—
Forever steadfast is Your grace.

O Holy One, we lift our song,
In humbleness, we seek Your face.
Our refuge strong, our righteous King,
Forever, Lord, Your love we trace.

Amen.

Modern psalms are what we need, nothing wrong with the standard ones, just to have a voice for our day and age. Good going there 🙏🏻

This could fit to an 8.8.8.8. hymn tune I think. Good write M. I've fried up a bit on my hymn-poems lately.
