One part of that day

Maplespal

One part of that day

I write this a little depressed,

my mind, it got reflective stressed.

Watching stories of animals mourning,

remembering Tegan died in the morning.

Maple, we put her just outside,

my love listened to her heart, as she died.

Through the stethoscope, listening intent,

wanting to hear the moment Tegan went.

When the drugs kicked in our Tegan died,

poor Maple howled so sadly outside.

She with us on that day beside Tegan laid,

for hours that’s where we stayed.

Many creatures feel loss. We are not the only ones that mourn. Sad poem.
