I will never be enough.
Doesn’t matter how I look—
Whether big or very small,
No matter how short or tall—
I have so been through it all
And it has been very rough.
I won’t ever be enough,
No matter what I will say.
It could be straight or a joke,
It could be nice, sweetly spoke,
Yet even when I don’t choke,
I’m at fault for all this stuff.
I said, “I won’t be enough!”
No one dared bother to look.
No matter how loud I’d care,
Whether I am here or there,
Or missing from everywhere—
Isolation’s peak is rough.
No, I’ll never be enough—
No matter what, it is true.
No matter who is out there,
With all their dark plots laid bare—
Their opinions, they all share—
But for me, I am enough.

Greed versus gratitude has always been a continual strife. This is nicely expressed in this poem and as well resolved by finding one self as enough. Well expressed.
For sure! Thank you so much for your time and thoughts, my friend. β€οΈπ
Only to me and that is the sad point where a sharedness can be lacking, otherwise all other things are fleeting and inessential.
Indeed! Thank you so much for reading and for your feedback! πβ€οΈ
I wrote poem the other day about feeling insecure and not enough .. yeah we can all feel like that sometimes, I think
A well written poem like how it started off with β not being enough β to realising she is enough
Thank you so much! I am glad the poem resonated! We sure can feel that way. Thank you for reading and commenting! π
Superb and thank goodness for your last line as you are definitely enough, and then some. πΉ

That final line, was great to find. She is enough for herself. Wonderfully expressed lines Tristan. All the best.

Everyone whether they like it, or admit to it even have a similar kind of turmoil or inner battle going on with themselves .. I enjoyed my visit which served to reinforce much of what I have already just stated .. well that's my story any old how and I'm gonna stick to it .. Neville
I concur! Thank you so much for your time and feedback, friend! πβ€οΈ
Buildup and negative feelings expressed in the first part of the poem or all turned around by the last lines. It is not what others think but what we think that matters. Nicely stated.
Indeed! If we canβt love ourselvesβ¦Thank you friend for your time and reflections! Much appteciated! πβ€οΈ
One of the biggest lessons I've learned in life is that you can't control what or how others think or feel about you. The last line of your poem says it all. We just need to like ourselves π€
Totally! π― Thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts π. Very much appreciated! πβ€οΈ
isn't it hard to be enough when they expect so much? must you be rich, hard-working, family-loving, vacation-seeking, world-traveling, business-creating, and already-on-retirement to be enough? the paradox is evident: you must love working for your family but must love family over work, value relationships more yet sacrifice relationships for success.
BAM! You've nailed it! Exactly! Thank you so much my friend! I always enjoy your visits and I thoroughly enjoy your work too! Thank you for the thought-provoking reflection my poem. πβ€οΈ
