As If By Chance

aDarkerMind

as if by chance

what sun is this I dream of?

how quick it spins it's coins and coils it's neck.

no space to turn the monochromes of light.

each in vain tomorrows fondest song

a relentless sound of dawns unanswered calls.

what kingdom this that barks one evensong?

the yellow bones of cryptic clues

love letters drifting sideways with the flesh of something new.

as if by chance

where heaving stones

drag their tails through a wind-chimes cotton breasts.

each purple rose

each frantic hand

each brighter than each unintended sin

now aches their pretty fingers through a scream

pointing south to where heaven

lives and breathes four cycles

with transparant views of all who cannot see.

as if by me

what day is this I dream of?

how quick it spins it's coins

and coils it's neck;

I really like this poem. It has that haunting phrase that comes back and repeats. Very nicely written.

I'm doing something really special at the moment for a good bunch of children in my home town, I'm teaching them English at the local library voluntarily, I've created a really lovely project and they love it, so I'm busier than usual, I'm always close by 🌹

Wonderful poem and love the repetition, albeit varied, in the “what” question, which almost bookends the poem. Very effective! Well done!
