Life Options

AaliyahC.

Disappointed is what it seems.

Nobody means anything.

The world is a lie and life is cruel.

Push or fall.

What would you wish to do.

Keep going or stop,

It doesn’t matter.

The worlds course is set.

Make your mind up or make a plan.

Nothing is fairly met.

Some start in debt.

Play this game called life.

See if you strive.

Only requirements are you can’t choose.

Some have been forced to be born.

And some even deformed.

Don’t be scared,

don’t be surprised,

don’t be disappointed

Just realize this is everyday life

and not everyone is meant to survive.

My comments on the poem “Life options” by AaliyahC

            “Nobody means anything.
The world is a lie and life is cruel…” Life is just make-believe. Perhaps we have no choice, after all. We have to create a world that we can handle, a world in which we can preserve our sanity.
“The worlds course is set….” Our life has been set out for us. Everything happens at the ordained moment. It is not coincidence.
“Play this game called life….” Life is a game of chance, much like a card game. Some have many jokers, some few of them and some none at all. The last ones have to slug it along.
“Only requirements are you can’t choose….” To be realistic, we have hardly any choices. We have to accept what happens to us. How often do we succeed in fighting off the obstacles, disasters, etc ?
“Some have been forced to be born….” ALL of us have been forced to be born. You being born is a choice for others who wield power over us : they could have terminated us. In a literal sense, when the time comes for you to exit, you are FORCED out.
“not everyone is meant to survive.” Even the length of our individual lives is something pre-ordained. Your poem is not depressing. It just lays out the facts. We have to look at the bright sides often if we want to stay sane. As if dangers were not enough, men do everything to exterminate themselves. Soman Ragavan. 25 November, 2024.
