I lay there on the bed at night,
Aircon on, Aircon off – nothing feels right.
Missing my man, missing my peeps
Gotta keep going, then I’m back for keeps.
A flash of an instant, that’s all this is.
My far away trip will pass by in a whiz.
But seconds seem slow, minutes laboured.
Six weeks are too long, I am dazed, bewildered.
Cram that time full
Make use of the pool
Visit beaches, the mall
Take the boat – don’t stall.
Eat out where you fancy,
Breakfast, lunch, supper, dancing
Join friends, speak Cantonese
Walk miles, a foot massage, please.
Countdown is over. The flight has been called.
Goodbye, land I escaped to. You did what was told.
Lightheartedness, good cheer and all that is merry.
I returned – a brand spanking new Kerry.

Adapting into a new lifestyle takes time and is difficult. Good poem, explaining the process and the feelings that accompany. Nicely done
A very enjoyable read
