I've been dreaming little dreams
Of songs you sang to me
It's funny how when I'm alone
I'm never really on my own
I... saw a piece that you wrote
And I made a mental note
Not to look and not to read it
And now guess what? I can't believe it
I'm sitting up at 4 A.M.
Crying like a broken dam
Damning what I didn't know
Those moments you were letting... me go
If I could go back in time
I wouldn't change a single line
But I'd just like to warn myself
And hopefully I'd listen
Take the chances as they come
Find peace in letting go
Of the moments as they pass
They were never meant to last
And though I've tried again and again
Nobody ever told me then...

As it should be. And still the rawness of having to go through life beckons with a peace on the other end.
