Countless Times Have I Loved You

Ishwar Chandra

Countless times have I loved you—

From my stable hand to your restless feet,

From my slanting eyes to your mannequins' hip,

From my hard, dry chin to your calm, wet lips.

Countless times have I worn you—

From this ultimate earth to the formless sky,

From erupting volcanoes to the tides so high,

From small wetlands to the desert dry.

Countless times have I glorified you—

Through my naked thoughts to your opaque dreams,

By dancing in the rain, by singing with the wind.

And together we exist like Earth and Sky.

Because I know that no other way than

This we could exist, neither you nor I.

Some people are just paired that way. Always good to find our match!
