The first snow by Leonid Martanov

Ksey_Gan

The first snow in her golden strands

He left at t’early  evening,

Said:

"That’s business. Do not wait…”

The first snow was falling.

i’m The street was white and white.

From t’girl that was at the kiosk

He asked for a glass of wine.

“Business…”, he repeated mentally, -

And this fault isn’t mine.”

But he called from the little square:

"Are you sleeping yet?

- "No I'm not sleeping yet.

- “Are you awake? What are you doing there?

Answered:

"I love, my sweet !”

...He  came back at t’late morning,

About twelve o'clock,

And looked around the opening:

It's like being in the forest fog,

In the forest where the branches are black,

And black trunks in the forest,

And all the curtains are black,

And black every corners ,

And the chairs are black and brown -

They crowded , silent around...

She bowed her head musingly,

And he suddenly saw:

Perhaps that she herself

Still doesn't want to know

Where is warm gold hairs

Now took whitish strand!

He touched this cute

Now he is forever

And he realized

Whose gold he paid

For  his  overnight stay.

She asked:

"What is this, Honey?”

He said:

"The First your snow!"
