The morning hums a steady tune,
A pale blue light that skirts the moon.
The mist that rises, soft and slow,
It hides the line where night lets go.
In twilight's hush, we are as one,
But fleeting as the rising sun.
The moment bends, then slips away,
I just hope that we’re okay.
I watch him swaying in the breeze,
He walks a path I cannot seize.
No words, no way to call him near,
He follows currents, unaware.
I can't help him, though I try,
He mumbles off, asking why.
Each day, he drifts, so far apart,
The silence aches my loving heart.
He speaks in riddles, cold, unkind,
One says "stay," the other "find."
Won’t hear me as he did before,
Present once - now lost, no more.
That person I once knew is gone,
A shadow where the light had shone.
The feelings shift, yet I remain,
The echoes whisper, still the same.
The man he is, the man I knew,
He’s distant now, and I am too.
I sit beside, but from afar,
That stranger from across the bar.
The world goes on, a steady hum,
And I cannot tell when I'll come.
He's bound to places I can’t see,
But none are where I wish to be.
He wonders and I wonder too,
As shadows fold and fade from view.
His masks may fall, and slip away,
But will he let me in some day?

A shadow, a mirror reflection, an imaginary companion. Something we can’t shake off. Our alter ego as well…. Like a twin.
A really enjoyable read through a well written poem
