villain

NinjaGirl

Just trying to make the world a better place

I wonder what would happen if I could change it

Tried to say it but they silenced my voice again

So I spoke out louder, actions louder than words

Maybe it wasn’t all pretty but it sure was factual

I got opinionated I guess perhaps a carried away

All I wanted was justice, too radical I suppose

They hate me cause I fight for what I believe in

I was told as a kid I could be whatever I wanted

But now I’m trying it and they want to stop me

It’s freedom of speech until they don’t agree

I speak of what’s morally wrong and they hate it

Pointing out their actions, so they quiet me

It’s not truth unless they like it, so I guess I’m the villain.

It seems aa a lot of people no matter their political beliefs have a problem with freedom of speech. I have no problem with what ANYONE believes as long as it don't hurt me or mine and respects my beliefs as well even if different from theirs. . Nice thought provoking write. Thanks for sharing.

Exactly! What can you do? Man, dearest NinjaGirl, your observations here are exactly what my acrostic CHILDREN was all about. The very people who taught us to shoot for the stars, be honest, be "all that we can be", speak truth, etc...are hating us for doing just that. So. what can we do? Say 🖕 and keep on doing what we do! This poem, my friend, is an instant fave, not because I enjoy your frustration...but I share it in the most profound ways...and because of that I dearly enjoyed and am thankful for this poem my friend. In awe! 🌹👏

Thank you very much! It is important to bring light to this matter...people shouldn't hate others because they share different opinions.

A poem highlighting a serious issue, that probably there is never such a thing as freedom of speech, because someone will always slap you down. My view is everyone should be and be allowed to be true to themselves. I echo Tristan thoughts about liking the poem, not because of your frustration, but i like the issues it raises, Thank you

Thanks for the comment! In the UK, people are being arrested for comments they make on social media. Awareness is very important to me!

It is the message in this poem that stands out. Yet for it to stand out it must have been said in such a way as to gain attention, hold it and make sense and this did. Early in life one has the choice to stand up for what one believes or go with the flow, most choose the flow. Those that stand up are subjected to ridicule, osterized, and at time punished. Yet in the long run they are the ones that make a difference and are respected. The coice is not easy. A very important write and well expressed.

Freedom of speech is a beautiful thing
It should not be held in chains
Speak from your heart and soul
                Speak what's on your mind

In the UK people are being arrested for comments on social media! Some of which are horrendous, but opinions nonetheless. It's important to be able to express ourselves
