Koshish

Have mercy on me, oh Lord,

For my heart lies buried,

Yet it beats on in defiance,

When my eyes meet hers.

I stand trial before love’s cruel gaze,

For which I am guilty.

What is my crime?

Neither do I know,

Nor does anyone else,

Who walks the same path as I.

If loving her is a sin,

Then I plead guilty.

Let death claim me,

For I have already touched heaven,

And it wears her face.

I yearn to hold her,

But she remains a distant star.

I long to call her mine,

Yet her radiant smile binds my hands.

Even in death,

I fear no flames, nor demons' wrath.

Her thoughts linger like shadows in moonlight,

And I cherish their haunting embrace.

Even as my life burns in torment,

I find solace in her memory.

Let the noose of love take me,

Yet do not let me forget—

Her luminous smile, her celestial voice.

So, oh dear Lord,

Even if despair consumes me,

Let her memory remain my light,

The smile that keeps my heart alive.
