The Treacherous Rain

Kevin Hulme

She stood by the door with a concerning look to the Sky,

As the Rain now gave full-strength to the ground,

And how my Heart broke with a trembling sigh,

For no Shelter or Shade from the Storm could be found.

And since we knew of each other by the choice favourable glance,

My Umbrella to share was my great Holy deed.

So beneath the Black Storm I saw my one chance ,

And with her acceptance now done we did duly proceed.

We then swapped in fond talk of those trifles so  dear,

Of Books and Art and Music much Loved,

No time was more precious than her presence so near,

And how! those eyes shone by the Lamps  set above.

And as we walked far ahead the Rain gradually did cease,

For we parted by the Sun, streaming bright through the air,

For Treacherous Rain could you never increase,

As a few minutes more would my affections declare.
