Ghost

A Little Child

The light of your room drags me down.
I’m the ghost you forget when he’s around.
Watch him hold you as I fade into dust.
Every smile is a promise I can’t trust.
And when the night slips its hand to your skin.
I’ll be the secret you bury within.
A murmur lost in the space of his voice.
Him pressing you, making that noise.

Now, the light of your room dragged me down.
I’m the ghost you forgot when he was around.
And I waited as the third in your dance.
Watched your love, astray of romance.
Guess I’ll stay in your shadow, where I belong.
You saw it as a game, you played me on.

A sad and wistful poem of a ghostly nature. Very nicely written from a very young perspective. Haunting.
