Whispers of wounds

Blondie

Words like daggers, sharp and cold cut through the laughter leaving the scars that unfold,

Peoples words make it hard to breathe as I’m left with these stories that will never be told,

No one likes the same things anymore, what’s left are just memories that we now adore,

Even the quietest moments, laughter fades I find myself lost in my thoughts longing to explore,

As I get older nothing feels the same everything’s changed leaving my heart heavy and afraid,

It’s hard to let go of the things I loved most but what truly matters is the memories we’ve made,

The boys words cut deeper than they used too, now leaving wounds instead of just bruises,

As tears stream fast racing down my face I contemplate the pain that time relentlessly chooses.
