Secrets

rebellion_in_sanity

Unwanted offsprings
infest our lives
Appear from nowhere
Like Rats scurrying in grim alleyway
And then disappear into the night

Dig holes in your mind
Unmarked graves for secrets
Bury them well
They should never come to light

Once in a while,
Some pop out like those filthy rats
They linger on, like shadowy threats
Secrets which could ruin your life

Pour champagne in glass
Celebrate victory
Show off cool demeanour
Brilliant piece of acting
Fear gnaws at bowels
With razor sharp claws

Victory by untold treachery
Secrets pile high
Force them into graves,
One by one
Pray to the almighty
Let none of them jump out
If you let your guard down

A great poem. I was always told that one doesn’t have to worry about secrets or lies if one is honest. That honesty is not always. The best policy honesty can destroy lives and feelings and so I have to remember the lies and secrets that I have. Most lovely writing

Depends on the secret, I suppose….
My feeling is that the excessive need to keep secrets is detrimental to one’s health. Get it out there if at all possible…..
Appreciated the feeling of torment you portrayed.

Every cupboard has a skeleton, problem being keeping them could be detrimental to ourselves or on the other side of the coin to someone else, and equally if we share those secrets, it`s a hard decision sometimes. Really enjoyed cleverly written poem
