As Whiskey’s final breath left from his chest,
His hand fell limp, the flask now free to fall.
It hit the earth with soft, unbroken rest,
And in that moment, answered nature’s call.
The flask did spill, its contents soaking deep
Into the frozen ground beneath the pine.
And in the soil, the waters soon did creep,
As Devil’s Lake began to form in line.
The earth did tremble, as the lake did grow,
Its waters swift, like spirits in the night.
The waters rose, and where the cabin’s glow
Had once burned bright, now darkness took its flight.
Devil’s Lake arose, its waters dark and deep,
A symbol of the man who walked the land.
And in its depths, the spirits still do keep
The tale of Whiskey, strong and bold and grand.
As years did pass, the lake did grow more wide,
And travelers came to gaze upon its shore.
They felt the winds, and heard a whisper guide,
A name that echoed through the land once more.
“Whiskey Wisconsin,” called the winds so free,
A name as wild as forests yet untamed.
The echoes rolled across the waters, sea,
A man immortal, in the lake’s own frame.
The forest spoke, and in its whispered cries,
The footsteps of the man would always stay.
Though Whiskey’s form had left beneath the skies,
His legend lingered, never to decay.
The creatures knew his name, as did the trees,
His legacy was in their song and sound.
And when the winds would blow across the seas,
It carried Whiskey’s name to all around.
The spirits danced upon the lake at night,
Their shadows flickering across the dark.
They moved with grace, in whispers soft as light,
A tribute to the man who left his mark.
The moon above would cast its glow so bright,
As if to honor Whiskey’s final spark.
And every soul who gazed upon the shore,
Would feel the man’s heart beat forevermore.
Whiskey Wisconsin, now a myth reborn,
His name as wild as rivers in the rain.
His life, a fire that could not be outworn,
A tale of strength, of courage, and of pain.
His legend lives, as bright as winter’s dawn,
A story passed through time, and will remain.
The man, the myth, the wildest heart alive—
In Devil’s Lake, his legacy survives.
