Sitting in a room
Solitary window facing you
Beam of light cuts through the darkness
Fails to drown the sense of gloom
Walls cold and lonely
Memory crowding mind
A forelorn note of trombone,
Suspended somewhere
Reminiscent of bitter sweet time
Happy faces, laughter and joy
Parade with beats of drum
Feeling like a spectator of a spectacle
You clap mechanically
But, deep inside, awning chasm
You feel no warmth
A black cat ambled in
Jumps on your lap
A solitary meow, a little purr
And you could feel her love
As you gently caress her head
A question torments your mind
Why does it take us so many lines
But, right words are so hard to find?

The last line says it all. People don't listen, they don't hear, they don't trust. Words the greatest invention of all time have outlived their warrenty and there is no exchange possible anymore. A poignant piece and wonderful write
Thank you very much. Perhaps, words fail me to express the feeling of gratitude suitablely. Your guidance is a constant inspiration
I found this quite sad and haunting, with an underlying feeling of emptiness, i could well be wrong. Very well written poem, Thank you
Thank you very much for your thoughts. You are spot on. The poem was born out of my angst in being unable to express myself adequately. It feels very rewarding when someone gets the mood. Highly appreciate your support
You are very welcome
I felt there is a sadness here .. a sign of the times methinks .. maybe 😎👍
An emphatic yes! As they say, got caught in the act. Thank you very much for the read and your thoughts. Value your support very much
There is no option but to keep struggling though. And I'd be the first to agree that the task isn't easy. Particularly here and on paper where contact is remote and devoid of all the signs and signals I receive with direct contact.
So I suppose for me the answer to your neat argument is 'occasionally'......
