It's just a dream

Maplespal

It's just a dream

A sleeping beauty tearfully cries,
streaming images to her eyes.
Tossing and turning with her fear,
dreaming scary noises she can hear.

I'm silently watching for her to wake,
the nightmares hold for her to break.
Pondering what she's trying to find,
while watching her dreaming mind.

Like the recurring moments in the past,
wondering how long this dream will last.
I'm waiting to comfort her waking scream,
and bring her down from her dream.

People plagued by nightmares suffer. This poem presents the author as a waiting source of help and safety. So nicely written as if watching from above. Lovely whether directed to a companion or a child.
