This world has shown me its darkness
And I no longer question there is evil done
Yet I question every vision of the one
The devils face so clearly etched in nightly news
And every holy book sketches a new face for our hope
I used to be so sure as I sat in the old pews
This bearded white man meant to be my hand to cope
Why is the one meant to be the light so clouded in interpretation
When the devil smiles so clearly
I am a poet who loves the idea of free expression
But I no longer want to guess which God will heal humanity
And maybe these stories of a better earth are all myths meant to give us control
But as I look at mother earth, I believe there must be balance

- Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this poem while hiking and thinking about the fact that nature will always balance itself out between what is life giving and what is life taking within an ecosystem. I then was thinking about how evil is sometimes so clear to see in this world when you watch the news and such, yet the correct spiritual belief to counteract said evil and maintain the same balance we see in nature is so clouded in interpretation and peoples abuse of said beliefs.

A reflection on the world that makes them ask questions about their faith, as they can not always clearly see it, nicely written
Thank you for the comment and for taking the time to read my poem.
You are very welcome
Great write
Thank you
You're welcome Alex
In our journeyings we gather and consolidate, make sense of what we see and experience. It sure is challenging to bring those strands to a cohesive whole. What I have observed is that there can be no conception of evil without a moral point of reference to be its contrast, as in the title โvision of goodโ. This is a remarkable poem giving us a glimpse of one of these trajectories of discovery and revelation. May your new year turn into an awesome one!
Thank you for your comment. That is great insight into life in general for sure.
