Evil Apple Tree.
I look out of my window and see agricultural wasteland.
Overtime slowly it has been destroyed by my own hand.
Remnants of hundreds of plants that I planted with care.
So, their natural beauty my neighbours and I could share.
Books I read from verse to verse and chapter to chapter.
Where to place them, how to feed, and when to water.
However hard I tried I could never keep a single plant alive.
They all got a death sentence when them I chose to buy.
Green fingers for sure is never going to be my nickname.
Plants are telling me I shouldn’t be in the gardening game.
Yet I still question am I responsible for all these deaths.
Or does my garden have some old hidden dark secrets.
The only thing that has ever survived is a large apple tree.
That was in the garden long time before me and my family.
I do nothing to that tree, it just happily he gets on with life.
Yet everything around or near it, is 100% guaranteed to die.
Is it my gardening touch that sends them all to their death.
Is there something I should be doing that I always forget.
Or is there more to the tree than people are willing to tell.
Has that old apple tree in my garden cast the deathly spell.

oh dear! I am liking this tree! the only one left standing. Perhaps the soil around it needs refreshing... and its composition made more to the needs of whatever plants or crops that you are planting. I loved the poem, btw. But i still like that apple tree. š
Thank you for your comment, it is refreshing when someone can see that there is another side to your writings, and that they may not just be about what you first read, much appreciated
Unfortunately we are so busy, not by choice mind you, but by force of circumstance that we are tunnel visioned even in our approach to our entertainment and off hours. I am hoping we are "re-culturing" ourselves here at MPS and other such sites.
Some things thrive where others can't survive. a fun poem that has hidden meaning in the metaphor. A most Happy New Year to you

Of course it's the apple tree's fault! Duh! This reminds me of my childhood. Our neighbor had this crab apple tree that, of course, dumped a majority of its apples on our yard. Perfect chore for a child, right? That's what my parents thought too! LOL! Hated that tree! LOL! And, yes, it was all that tree's fault! I, of course, look back fondly at it now, long since taken down. Hahahaha! But yeah, glad that chore is behind me. Anywho, as you can see, I really enjoyed your poem and thank you for sparking that memory! Here's to the new year Tobani! š¹š
