For the images

Maplespal

For the images

Darkened clouds pout and cry,
above the raining sky,
the stars shine so dry.
Like the nights that past,
where the comets last,
where emptiness is massed,
my thoughts are divided in two.
For the images my mind pursues,
I'm soaking in this view,
admiring the sight I see.
From the stars floating free,
in the puddles in front of me.

The puddles reflect my eyes untrue,
showing more images to pursue.
They reverse what's in my sight,
turning the left into the right.
Like I am looking in a mirrors view,
having my thoughts divided in two.
Watching the rain and stars be free
with life playing out in front of me.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The view of the coming rain and the clear skies being swallowed last as long as the puddle reflects the stars above. Capturing the images leads you to being soaked because you get lost in the drops in your view.

Here the image of the sky reflected like the speaker's eyes in puddles and reflections provide a double but transposed view a great metaphor as well to see things from both sides. Very nice

A very enjoyable read, i think reminding us that you can be controlled by what you first see and it is always good to look at things from a different angle and consider both sides.

We do seem to live in two worlds at times, and I think your poem "reflects" this beautifully. Great write!
