The pony tail in the mirror

Bella Shepard

The pony tail in the mirror

As I go by

Catch’s my eye

And makes me think

Of days gone by

When I was young

And it was black

But now just gray

The sheen and luster lack

As the New Year starts its race

I see the wrinkles on my face

I’ll do my best to keep the pace

I may walk on with slower steps

But here and now

 My mind accepts

The aging body time reflects

The pony tail is part of me

That long ago that helped me be

The life of love that set me free

        a very touching write Bella.
I somethings think it would take a day to count the wrinkles on my face.
but the pony tail is only part of you.
while we all age, our hearts will grow stronger, of that I am sure.

Dearest Bella, An incredibly beautiful piece of poetry, love every line of imagery. Happy New year dear friend. You got your mojo back, no doubt about it ❤️

Dear Teddy, you are an incredibly wonderful friend, thank you. It\'s funny, I haven\'t put my hair in a pony tail in a very long time, but this morning I did and the lines just seemed to come. It\'s strange what sometimes triggers memory. I think I\'ll keep the pony tail. Hope your New Year is filled with amazing things! Thank you for the fav.

A lovely poem Bella. The pony tail is still very much a part of who you are today. The wrinkles on the face speak to me of a life well lived. Wear them with pride. Happy new year dear Bella. 🌹

Happy New Year dear Cassie, thank you so much for your kind words, I always apprecite your comments. As for the wrinkles, I will claim every one of them. I find that if I look up all the time, they are much less noticable, but then I run into everything, so much for vanity, lol. Take care my friend!

Good write Ponytail, erm, Bella! lol. A rather old fashioned congregation may not be too keen on a (male) Vicar's ponytail, but he's kept it!

Thank you Orchi, I think a male Vicar's ponytail would be quite nice.

Age takes us all if we are fortunate enough to live. It is what is inside that counts. A lovely poem Bella that tells us to accept ourselves as we are.
