Beneath Ra?
When I entered the land of the Nile,
the man in flowing white robes told me
words of draped and hollow wisdom:
‘When the moon fades away and the sun was once gold,
once the sands pulse in green and Nile stops flow,
When even the grave is opened in time,
and life is seen just worth a single gold dime,
then follow the light of the moon and sun.
‘Once Khonsu is lifeless and Ra is tied,
When Set is tranquil and Hapi runs dry,
When even Apophis shall surrender aligned,
Then follow Ra’s pure bright light.
And to him I looked in the sparkling twilight,
puzzled, ‘Ra or Nyambe’s light?
For how Ra could be a guide in night
when aged is he, owner of sullied might?’

Which is better is a difficult question. In Japan, it is said that happiness lies in the latter.
