Traffic Lights

Kevin Hulme

Those Traffic Lights they seem to know,

You’re in a rush with places to go,

Some eager ‘Hot Date’, a Blackmail payment, the Kids all need to be fed,

It see’s you approach then tells you ‘No dice’,

And jumps  straight over to ‘Red’.

But when sedate and taking it slow,

With no particular place to go,

The Three-Eyed Clown being wilfully mean,

Will pride itself with the colour ‘Green’.

How ‘Generous’ it says by its Olive light,

‘You’ll find I shine both day and night’.

He’s quite a Joker our Highway Friend,

It’s all good fun, no cause to offend ,

But one of these days in such a case,

I’ve sworn to punch it in the face.
