Blizzard

Thoughtless

Nifelheim here, normally temperate, the snow slides off and clings
to the dwellings, another Midwestern winter. White blankets and walls to infinity and beyond, appears that way.
The furnaces, oh the furnaces, heat bouncing off the ceiling, poor circulation, we hide under comfortable lap robes in outdated houses.
Snowflakes continue taunting, feels that way.
A train sings in the distance, karaoke of the Doppler effect in both directions. Stores dead for one or two days.
Chilly here but not unbearable with the constant faucet drip, drip, drip.
Silver lining here: marathon movies to fuzzy the idle mind.
Wait, real snow angels!

I've read about the big freeze today, wishing you warm and cozy safety at home, a good excuse to watch all your favourite films whilst the weather softens. Best wishes. A lovely poem, love the ending. 🌹

Thank you. It is cold here but not as much as some other places in the US.

You cast an image that revives old memories of days in the north and cold that seems as though it will never end. You had to leave the faucet dripping so the pipes wouldn't freeze. Too cold for me in my old age moved south, far south. Good write

Most of the time it's not that cold here. But we do have our days. Snow is really piled high in some parts of the state. Thanks for the feedback.
