The Strength of the Gentle Soul
The finest souls are those who have swallowed pain,
Yet shield others from its bitter stain.
They suffer alone in the quiet night,
Wearing small smiles to mask their plight.
They share only fragments with family and friends,
So loved ones won’t worry as their heartache extends.
For those who endure deep suffering's weight,
You remain gentle, though you bear such fate.
You may not receive the credit you deserve,
If you've been brutally broken yet still preserve
The courage to be kind when all feels lost,
Staying true to yourself despite the cost.
You deserve a love deeper than the ocean's embrace,
For fighting battles unseen is a noble grace.
Not letting hardships conquer your spirit is brave,
And living with an open heart is a gift you save.
I know you’ve felt heavy, burdened by strife.
Please be gentle with yourself; you’ve given so much life.
Recognize the value of your heart as I do,
Take care of yourself; let kindness guide you.
Don’t let your heart become puddles of sorrow,
For your strength will shine brightly in tomorrow.

- Comment from author about the poem: When kindness is taken for granted and others fail to notice our inner suffering, I created this poem to remind them that we all own a lighthouse that shines even in the darkest places.

Those who have suffered real pain are the ones more likely to try and conceal it, and more likely to be of the kinder nature, to get hurt you have to have feelings and care in the first place, beautifully written poem
