Still not sure what this Poems about

Kevin Hulme

What is this curious Poem about,

There’s no set theme that I can make out.

Some Purple-Prose for a lady Love,

Who lights my World like the Stars above.

To ring my Heart in a romantic tone,

Is this the theme of this doubtful Poem?

And picturesque lines of the Countryside,

All lofty scenes of the Trees supplied,

Babbling Brook by meadows green,

Hedge And Bluebell in between,

The store of life where Nature lives,

It’s hard to see what this actually is.

Now here’s the odd reference condemning all War,

The senseless acts we all deplore,

Where Crime after Crime on our brother man,

Are the heinous deeds since time began.

Endless Strife and Riotous Route,

But not a ‘Show and Tell’ of what this Poems about.

Then caustic words for the Government’s term,

Electoral Pledges they often spurn,

The spouting Rhetoric the fuel of Hot Air,

The tired old bilge with the same  old flair.

It’s something I’ve mentioned with a line or four,

But within this work, It adds nothing more.

Some middling Verse that Chimes so well,

No Heir to ‘McGonagall’ that I can tell,

The odd choice word that’s very fine,

But a correlation of tale I cannot find.

It’s a varied mix, a shoddy affair,

Just put together without any care,

Maybe next a Classic, a Moral right through,

But as for this- It will never do.

It seems to be exploring the very nature of purpose itself! Its meta-nature and playful self-critique add a unique layer of complexity and intrigue. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

A fascinating poem. I like the idea of writing a piece that you're not sure what it is about. Nicely done.
