FOODBANKS

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

The queue it stretches
Ever growing
From the church doors
To a nearby street.
Not just the unemployed
Those in work
Those in need
You meet.

So many are embarrassed
They keep their heads low
Work sixty hours a week
I think it goes to show
Theres something really wrong here
In a so called civilised world
Where Foodbanks are the norm
Doesnt Government care ?

I used to be embarrassed as well. The food banks we have were we live are government subsidised. A concession card is given out at assigned government agencies and used at quite a few establishments, a big help not only to the destitute but also to the pensioners, disabled and other categories of the demographic. It isn’t much, really; but something in the meantime. I’m not aware how it works in other places.

Yes its so very true but if wages and benefits were enough to live on we could do away with these places, many thanks for your comments

If they were this would be a ‘more’ perfect world and the gap between rich and poor would be quite insignificant… and you know where that thought will be going…. sad truth, greed and ability partner to the behest of the powers that be.

No it doesn't is the answer. But the people should care and do something about it by helping those we know first and those we don't next. A sad comentary on society not just today but always.

I appreciate that for many thousands they have become a life line, but The answer i feel is clearly No to caring and i feel society does not either, if we looked out for each other like we used to, there would be no where the need there is for the foodbanks. Though provoking read.
