And so it was for Eric Brean, the Meaning of life is for going Green,
For his ‘Recycling Bin’ is always full,
And his talks on Waste never strayed from dull.
The slightest thing he’d use again,
‘To use once more’ his boastful claim,
For his Jackets were made from a Persian Rug,
With a Tarpaulin Shirt that’s warm and snug.
Oil-Cloth trousers of brilliant Red,
A Box on each foot for Shoes instead.
And there to underline this sorry fact,
A carefully handmade Polystyrene Hat.
His house now stands in proof of sorts,
To the fundamental text of Recycling Thought,
For the Curtains that hang within his home,
Are Potato Sacks together Sown.
His Bed an Old Bathtub, with a Mattress thrown in,
Pyjamas are the Bags that we use for the Bin.
All furniture saved from the Junk and the Pile,
Are spread around Rooms in a ‘Kafkaesqu Style.
A Converted T.V. from a bygone age,
A Model in Vogue with ‘The Fonz’ being the rage.
As for getting around from A to B,
The power of the legs being the obvious key.
‘Away with the Oil’ being his usual shout,
So a small ‘Pedal Kart’ is for getting about.
And so it was for Eric Brean,
To use just once, is the height of obscene.
Never let it be said, he’s not pulling his weight,
So let’s all be like Eric, before its to late.

As I first arrived at the doorstep of this poem I immediately thought; βoh boy! Vikings and adventure!β But beneath the humour, the poem carries a serious message about the importance of recycling and sustainability. Eric's life, though exaggerated, serves as a reminder of the potential to reduce waste and creatively repurpose items in our daily lives. Good going here ππ»ππ»π
Yes , the Poem got βPublishedβ before I finished it . Gremlins I think. So I hope you read the rest of it. As always Aiqios , thank you.
Oh, we always reconnoitre Kevin, thanks for visiting my garden of verse as well... sometimes more like a junk-shop than a garden, lol. ππ»πποΈ
Junk-Shop? Being to hard on yourself. Wonderful Poetry.
lol, perhaps absent minded professor's laboratory or artist's untidy workshop. You are too kind. πποΈ Thanks kindly. ππ»
