I have a few life lessons that I taught
Myself, so I remembered every time I fought
Every battle that I have lost and won
And everything that I have ever done
What we do for ourselves dies with us
Which is something nobody cares to discuss
But what we do for others and the world
Will always remain immortal and unfurled
The next one: to stop fear
When it seems like you might tear
Never postpone or try to distract
For, to fight fear, you must always act
Suffering in silence is a terrible thing
As only more suffering it will bring
Some people say to hide and run
But never be alone, just stay with someone
When you’re young, siblings are best friends
You can rely on them with no ends
You will treasure them when you are old
But onto your love for them you will hold
We have not changed from a child to an adult
Until passive to active you begin to consult
For it didn’t get lost, but you lost it
Now, to your mistakes you must admit
Another story, from Michelangelo, who saw
An angel set in the marble, quite the outlaw
And carved till he set him free
Something important that you must see
We wish to be a big kid, with respect of adulthood
Though we need to shoulder responsibility and good
Sometimes, we must reach further than we’re able
Be more than we were yesterday without knowing we were capable
Hope can shine like the brightest star
But fear clouds your vision of who you really are
Fear is important, but it keeps you away from being you
Just be you, the best you, that’s all you must do
Stress can cause friendships to nearly die
But friendships worth keeping can be brought back, here’s why
As long as there’s recognition of what’s actually vital
You can heal those wounds and make a positive title
Our choices and actions define us
Do people see the real you, which is a good plus
Or just the convenient you, not your true reality
And false identities can bring brutality
Never judge yourself by popularity
Because all that does is it removes all clarity
Judge yourself by the quality of friends
That you surround yourself with, and how you make amends
Now, this one, I have kept for life
As I try to not focus on nothing but strife
But instead, I followed the best rule
Which I try to always do at school
When you focus on the bad things, that’s all you will see
If you look for the good, you will find it, just like me
I’ve parted the dark curtains of despair
So with friends and family shining through, it’s joy I can share!
Find those similar to you, who accept you as you
This will lead to happiness as you’re true
Not for a disguise or popularity’s sake
As eventual disappointment will be in your wake
Be who you were meant to be
And you will feel more free
Although on the outside it might be hard
But it’s better to be you and lower your guard
Accept your weaknesses and strengths
And you will travel great lengths
Become your best and truest version
If you believe in yourself, you’ll be the best person
People might accept you, or they might not
But you have to show them what you’ve got
If you truly believe, then it won’t matter
But looking down will force the latter
Sisyphus pushing that rock up the hill
Like trying to show off all your skill
When you must trust and accept the help from friends
They’ll help you get to the top with no ends
If you don’t, it’s difficult and pointless
Without friends, support is jointless
Open up, relax and stay intact
Don’t do everything by yourself and act
Something I learnt about hate
Is that it gives you so much weight
It will drag you down so far
And leave an ugly, lasting scar
Hating people takes too much energy to sustain
All it brings is suffering and pain
Forgiveness is important, find common ground
As it is a great gift that I have found
Even if you want to disagree
Their perspective you should try to see
Always understand the other side
To take hatred out of your life
The choices you make will determine your life
What you will face: the consequences and strife
Always give thought and don’t act rashly on the whole
And do what is necessary to achieve your goal
Never promote anger or jealousy
But kindness, love and generosity
Some choices need hard work and are unique
But they will give you the life you seek
Now, to sum everything up as such
I can’t believe I’ve learnt so much
I know everything I need to know
Many wise words have helped me to grow
I have made some bad choices before
But I have refused to quit anymore
I have forgiven everyone who has ever wronged me
And I understand the way I should be
I have selective mutism, an anxiety
I thought I was such a impropriety
But actually, I learned to cope
And ever since, I’ve had hope
Though anxiety is not a good addition
I think I can fight this condition
I realised that I was not alone
And I finally stepped out of my comfort zone
With the help of my parents, friends and you (yes you!)
I was able to become a better person who’s true
I’m now proud of myself and who I am
And being like this shall be my best plan
So this is why I’m passing this on
I hope this stays even when I’m gone
I will thank you all for reading
As your support I’ll always be needing
