I watched you paint the night with laughter

Those eyes a twin flame that burned my ever-after.

A first-place ribbon prize I’ll never know

For some stranger your eyes softly glow.

Each word you spoke a siren song

Shattering my boat I'm strung along.

A fallacy whispered just for me.

A ghost of your love I'll never see.

A thief with your attention intertwined

His name a song etched in your mind.

Infatuation I once thought I'd fill.

Now lies silent cold and still.

Patched my heart scared of romance

Every smile was circumstance.

Unraveled thread in life's cruel loom

A fleeting whisper of endless gloom.

The nights are long the silence loud

This broke down heart disavowed.

Rewind false feelings I've spun

In a war that ended never won.

So tonight I stand beneath the moon

Defeated like autumn, winter came too soon.

Its silver light a meager disguise

Frozen tears in my eyes.

I wished on a star with all my might

Stumbled over feelings, I lost the fight.

Heart on my sleeve the final mistake

For some hearts beat just to ache.

A very beautifully written poem about a feeling of love that was never able to be delivered, and the wandering of what could of been, lovely poem
