Where Do Lonely People Go.
Do you know which way I should go.
It is something I really need to know.
Do you think I go left or maybe right.
Can you tell me, if you’d be so kind.
Is there room for just a little old one.
Don’t worry I won’t hang around long.
I assure you I will soon move along.
I understand of course i don't belong.
Tell me where all the lonely people go.
Is there a reason that we don't know.
Do they gather in their special space.
Tell me is there a friendly happy place.
Is there a place where the lonely walk.
Maybe even occasionally cautiously talk.
Where the lonely can feel human contact.
I need to know am I on the right track.
Hey if you find out where I need to go.
Please, if possible, can you let me know.
Until then I will be sitting in my home.
Having a normal day just being alone.

You found it indeed a most clever write bringing the reader back to the begining of the poem and answering the question without directly answering it. Very nice.
Thank you for your feedback, Have a great weekend
We all at some time feel lonely and want to know our own purpose. A great poem!
Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated as always
You're welcome
See the song "Where do broken hearts go" by Whitney Houston. Lonely people have nowhere to go in this wide world. They slug it alone till a lonely death. However, we poets leave our writings behind on sites like this one. Soman Ragavan. 11 January 2025.

This poem touched me because I see lonely people every week when I go to visit my aunt. She has dementia and many of them do too. So many of them never get a visit and yet have family. Whatβs that all about? And then others confined in their homes without friends or family. This poem took me in many directions and filled me with sadness. Loneliness is a curse. I have never known it and I count my blessings. Have a good weekend Tobani.
Thank you Cassie for your feedback, very sadly it is one of those unseen situations in our society that a lot of people suffer from, for a multitude of reasons. I wish you a great weekend to.
Hauntingly beautiful. I know this feeling my friend. I don't even live alone and I know this feeling. Loneliness can be a killer. Wonderful poem! πΉπ

You're welcome!
I sometimes think that we have created the perfect conditions for lonliness in our technological world. Where once people gathered as families and communities, it is now easier to self isolate with cell phones and social media where we can often be anonymous. For those who have always dealt with feelings of being different, it is an empty place in which they struggle. Such a topical theme my friend, and one that deserves much attention. Thank you!

I distinctly recall that I used to think along very similar lines, but that was long ago now and long before I found out exactly where the majority of them spend so much of their time trying to make ends meet and just to survive .. So very sadly enjoyed .. Neville
