Winter's freeze

Feysal Mohamed Omar'Olat

Violently I hum in restless sleep,

Vexed by the thought of waking to repeat,

A cold winter’s day that chills to the bone,

A somber circle etched on every face.

Its icy hand, relentless in its hold,

A frigid grip that numbs the soul.

And so I slumber on from fear of repeat,

Beguiled by dreams, their warmth, their ease,

A fleeting refuge from winter’s freeze.
