PAIN

nephilim56

He speaks of his thoughts
Cigarette in shaking hand
He hides his deepest pain
He sits and then he stands.

He paces then returns
To the well worn chair
Smiles a weary smile
The pain too much to bear.

He feels he cant let go
To the burning pain deep inside
His eyes begin to swell
Again its time to hide.

He walks an uncaring street
He feels everyone looks at him
It causes more anxiety
Head down, thoughts to spin.

His pace it quickens
To escape the crowd
Behind the door
Free of sound.

Poor self esteem can lead to feelings of being looked down on and feeling odd. In this poem pain leads to anxiety and wandering the streets feeling the object of other's eyes and out of place and withdrawal is seen as the only recourse. Well written with good rhyme.
