in his shoes

Gloria Denise

I know someone

who is humility defined

stoic, full of strength

truly one-of-a-kind

you’d never see him sweat

he is one,  who is hard to forget

father

husband

son

brother

and to me, I call him friend

I curse the day should that ever end

those who are blessed to know him

look to him in hard times

but sometimes I wonder what makes our knight truly shine

I imagine the thread God needed to sew together such a design

a hidden heart where actions speak louder than words

one whose soul desire is to observe, learn, and serve

an epiphany has revealed a given grace

as to why it took so long for us to meet in this place

a moment where a friendship that God wanted to use

for friend to heal one and save the two

by giving perspective of what it’s like to be

in his shoes
