Global Warming

Global WARNING!

A TV Production – over twenty years ago.

A cottage on a hillside battered by winds.

Winter.

The snow deep.

Covering the top of the windows.

The UPSTAIRS WINDOWS of the house.

Icebergs had entered the Gulf Stream which gives us our temperate climate.

Our climate reacting.

IMMEDIATE.

INSTANT.

FREEZING.

Like ice cubes dropped into a drink.

No time now to react.

To prevent.

To protect.

Why are we still in denial?

TIME IS RUNNING OUT !

  • Comment from author about the poem: The programme was broadcast on daytime TV, around the year 1998 at a guess. At the time I was quite horrified but felt that forewarned was forearmed and that the governments of the world would meet soon and take action to prevent the situation from getting worse. How wrong can you get?? Do you feel as frustrated as I do that no real action has happened? What will it take before it is too late?
