When You’ve Lost the Love You’ve Never Had

Matthew R. Callies

You never knew that I loved you true.

You really had no clue.

So, I had to say that I’d be okay

To see him there with you.

How could it be that you couldn’t see

The love I had to give.

But now it’s too late, so, I’ll have to wait

As long as I will live.

It’s too late to say I love you.

And it’s too late to win your heart.

But I know I’ll be there for you,

Even though I never had a start

How could I say I’m happy for you,

When the pain, it hurts so bad.

‘Cause in your soul you feel like dying,

When you’ve lost the love you’ve never had.

I wish I had said the things in my head,

My heart, my soul and such.

But now you are gone and I’m left alone.

And I’ll never feel your touch.

This poem is a write of those moments we all let slip by and have left us with regrets. Time that has slipped through our fingers. Very well done

I suppose it’s never too late to say something yet she may never return in kind, a convoluted situation exquisitely expressed 👍🏻🙏🏻🕊
