Illusions in Reality

Salvia.S

Imagination is the deceitful beauty,

With its own creative quality

Where the soul finds its solace

When reality proves to be a malaise.

What we can’t get, we create in our own minds. This is a way of coping, of living with frustrations, with unrealised dreams. Here, what imagination brings is beautiful but deceitful. The soul needs a place where it can live peacefully. When we can’t find that place in real life, we must create it in our minds, in our hearts. This is a necessity, it is a way for us to face life, to stay sane, to manage our frustrations and the obstacles placed in our way.
“[On T. GAUTHIER, 1811-1872)]. In a world in which everything is impermanent, the poet, by rearranging reality into art, can create something that will have more permanent value. ...... Art can thus provide the poet with a solace for his mortality while he is alive and the hope of immortality in death….” --"TWELVE FRENCH POETS. 1820-1900. AN ANTHOLOGY OF 19TH CENTURY FRENCH POETRY." London : Longmans, Green and Co., 1957. (Third impression, 1959). (With an Introduction and Notes by Douglas Parmée). Full acknowledgements are made to the authors, publishers and rights-holders.
We need solace not just from mortality but also as a way of coping with what happens around us. –Soman Ragavan.
