I Have Fallen In Love With My Self Unseen

Mohammad Younus

I have fallen in love with the Self unseen—
a secret wellspring, deep as eternity,
a fathomless sea whose tides call my name.

I am drowning—
no, I am fighting for breath,
only to stay submerged,
surrendered to the pull of unseen currents,
where love unfurls in spirals of water and light.

The waves rise now,
weightless yet unrelenting,
a frictionless hunger pulling me deeper,
where the oldest love story
writes itself upon my skin.

A tsunami surges—
crashes, breaks,
sweeps me into its embrace,
drowns me in its longing,
pulls me beneath the knowing sky.

Salt clings to my lips,
like kisses that burn and heal in a single breath.
I tread the undercurrents,
wrapped in the pulse of passion’s storm,
fathom upon fathom,
league upon league,
until distance dissolves.

Each descent, a chapter.
Each wave, an echo
of all hearts fevered and lost before me.
And I—
I do not resist.

Deeper, still deeper,
where the Beloved waits with arms of water,
where longing fades,
where love is neither journey nor arrival—
only depth,
only surrender,
only salt and sea.

How strong is this pull?
How sweet is the drowning?
